Professional Epoxy Flooring
Done Right in Charlotte

Epoxy flooring is one of the most durable, cost-effective floor coating systems available — but only when it's installed correctly. The difference between a floor that lasts 15 years and one that peels within 18 months comes down entirely to surface preparation and material quality.

At Charlotte Epoxy Pro, we use 100% solids commercial-grade epoxy systems — the same products used in hospitals, warehouses, and auto dealerships — applied over diamond-ground concrete. We don't use acid etch as a substitute for grinding, and we don't use diluted consumer-grade products.

Every epoxy system we install is backed by our lifetime warranty against delamination and peeling. That warranty means something because we do the prep correctly — not because we plan to honour warranty calls.

Charlotte's climate creates specific challenges for epoxy flooring. The region's humidity — averaging above 70% for much of the year — means moisture in concrete slabs is a constant variable. Our moisture-tolerant primer systems address this directly, blocking vapour transmission that would otherwise cause delamination from below.

We serve residential homeowners coating garages and basements, as well as commercial clients in retail, food service, healthcare, and industrial settings. Each application has different requirements, and we specify the right system for each environment rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.

Every job begins with a free on-site estimate. We assess the slab, identify potential issues, and give you a written quote with no surprises. Most residential epoxy jobs are scheduled and completed within a week of the estimate.

Why Epoxy

What Makes Epoxy the Right Choice

Epoxy outperforms paint, tile, and bare concrete on almost every practical metric — durability, cleanability, chemical resistance, and cost per year of service life. Here's what you get with a professional install.

Impact resistant

High-build epoxy absorbs impact from dropped tools and equipment without cracking or chipping.

Chemical resistant

Sealed topcoat repels oil, automotive fluids, cleaning chemicals, and most industrial solvents.

Seamless surface

No grout lines or joints where bacteria, moisture, and grime can accumulate.

Customisable appearance

Available in solid colours, flake blends, and metallic finishes to match any interior.

Long service life

Professionally installed epoxy lasts 10–20 years in residential settings with basic maintenance.

Lifetime warranty

Every epoxy system we install is backed by our lifetime warranty against peeling and delamination.

Installation Process

How We Install Epoxy Flooring

Surface prep is 80% of the job. Here's exactly what happens on every installation.

01

Surface Assessment

We test for moisture, assess crack severity, check for previous coatings, and measure the area. This determines the correct primer and system for your slab.

02

Diamond Grinding

The entire floor is ground with industrial diamond tooling to open the concrete pores and create a mechanical profile. This is the most important step — it's what prevents peeling.

03

Crack & Joint Repair

Hairline cracks are filled with semi-rigid epoxy filler. Larger cracks and control joints are cut, cleaned, and filled before the base coat is applied.

04

Primer Application

A moisture-tolerant epoxy primer penetrates the concrete surface, seals the slab, and creates the bond layer for the base coat.

05

Base Coat & Topcoat

The main epoxy layer is applied at the specified build thickness, then sealed with one or two topcoat layers for chemical resistance and gloss.

Pricing Guide

Epoxy Flooring Cost in Charlotte

Epoxy flooring in Charlotte ranges from $3 to $12 per square foot installed, depending on the system and slab condition. Here's what moves the price.

View full pricing table

Square footage

Epoxy systems are priced per square foot. Larger areas benefit from lower per-foot rates due to setup efficiency.

Application type

Solid colour systems are the most cost-effective. Flake broadcast and metallic finishes add to material and labour cost.

Slab condition

Heavily contaminated, painted, or cracked slabs require more prep time and materials — always quoted upfront.

Topcoat choice

Polyurethane topcoat is standard. Polyaspartic topcoat is more durable and UV stable, at a modest premium.

FAQ

Common Questions

Have a question not covered here? Call us directly — we're happy to talk through your project.

How much does epoxy flooring cost in Charlotte, NC?

Standard solid-colour epoxy runs $3–$5 per square foot installed. Flake broadcast systems are $3.50–$6. Metallic epoxy ranges from $8–$12. For a 500 sq ft basement or garage, expect $1,500–$3,000 for a standard system. We provide free written quotes with no obligation.

How long does epoxy flooring take to install?

Most residential jobs (500–1,500 sq ft) take 1–2 days. Day one covers grinding, crack repair, primer, and base coat. Day two applies the topcoat. Polyaspartic topcoat systems can compress this to a single day. Larger commercial jobs are quoted with a specific timeline.

How long does epoxy flooring last?

A properly installed commercial-grade epoxy system lasts 10–20 years in residential settings. The keys are proper surface prep (diamond grinding), quality materials (100% solids epoxy), and a UV-stable topcoat. Our systems are backed by a lifetime warranty against peeling and delamination.

Can epoxy be applied over existing paint or coatings?

Generally no — existing coatings must be removed before we can apply epoxy. We diamond grind or shot blast the floor to bare concrete to ensure a proper mechanical bond. Applying epoxy over paint is the leading cause of premature failure. We always prep to bare concrete.

Is epoxy flooring slippery?

A plain gloss epoxy can be slippery when wet. That's why we include a full-broadcast flake layer or anti-slip additive in every residential system. The texture of the flake provides meaningful grip even when wet. We can also add aluminium oxide grit for higher-traction environments.

Can you apply epoxy in a basement with moisture issues?

Yes, with the right system. We start every below-grade job with a moisture test. If moisture migration is present, we apply a moisture-tolerant epoxy primer that blocks vapour transmission before the main system goes down. We do not skip this step — moisture is the number one cause of epoxy failure on basement floors.

What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic flooring?

Epoxy is a two-part thermoset that cures overnight — durable, cost-effective, and the industry standard for most applications. Polyaspartic cures in hours, is 100% UV stable, and can be installed and walked on the same day. Polyaspartic costs 20–40% more but offers faster turnaround and better UV performance. We offer both, and will recommend the right one for your project.

Do you offer commercial epoxy flooring in Charlotte?

Yes. We install commercial epoxy in restaurants, retail spaces, auto shops, gyms, warehouses, and offices throughout the Charlotte metro. Commercial systems use the same materials as residential but are often applied at higher build thickness and include safety markings, slip-rated topcoats, or other commercial-spec features.
