Auto Shop Epoxy
Flooring in
Charlotte, NC
Oil and chemical-resistant epoxy flooring for auto repair shops, service departments, and dealerships. Anti-slip, safety markings, dust-proof — and a professional finish that impresses clients.
A Shop Floor That
Works as Hard as You Do
Auto repair shop floors take more punishment than almost any other commercial environment. Oil, transmission fluid, battery acid, brake fluid, coolant, and degreasers — all of it landing on the floor daily. A bare concrete floor absorbs all of it, creating a permanent contamination problem that stains, smells, and makes the shop look unprofessional.
A sealed epoxy floor changes the equation. Fluids bead up and can be wiped away. The surface is dust-proof. The shop looks professional. And the floor is easy enough to clean that your team will actually keep it clean — not because they have to, but because it only takes minutes.
We've coated auto repair shops, independent garages, dealership service departments, and specialty shops across Charlotte. The spec varies by operation — a body shop has different requirements than a quick-lube, which is different again from a dealership service lane — and we design the right system for each environment.
Oil & fluid resistant
Sealed epoxy surface repels motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze, and battery acid. Spills wipe up rather than soaking into the concrete.
Chemical resistant topcoat
Industrial-grade polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat resists degreasers, parts cleaners, and fuel — the daily chemicals in a working shop environment.
Anti-slip texture
Full-broadcast flake or aluminium oxide aggregate provides traction on a floor that regularly gets wet with fluids, water, and cleaning solutions.
Safety line marking
Bay markings, pedestrian walkways, lift zones, and hazard areas applied with epoxy traffic paint — not tape that peels under tyre traffic.
Dust-proof surface
Sealed epoxy eliminates concrete dusting that contaminates vehicles, paintwork, and air filters in body shops and detail areas.
Professional appearance
A coated shop floor immediately elevates the appearance of the facility — important for customer-facing areas and dealership service departments.
How We Install Auto Shop Epoxy
Oil contamination in the slab is the biggest variable. Here's how we handle it — and why cutting corners on prep causes failure.
Site Assessment & Bay Layout
We assess the shop floor, identify oil contamination in the slab, and confirm the bay layout for safety markings. Oil penetration determines how much grinding is required before the system goes down.
Oil Removal & Surface Prep
Auto shop slabs typically have significant oil penetration. We degrease, then diamond grind to remove the contaminated concrete layer and expose a clean, receptive surface. We never coat over oil contamination.
Primer Application
A moisture and chemical-tolerant primer penetrates the slab and creates the adhesion layer for the main epoxy system.
Epoxy System Application
High-build base coat and chemical-resistant topcoat applied at full spec thickness. Anti-slip aggregate is broadcast into the topcoat. Flake broadcast option available for decorative finishes.
Safety Markings & Line Striping
Bay boundaries, lift zones, pedestrian walkways, and any required safety markings are applied using epoxy traffic paint once the main system has cured.
What Our Auto Shop Clients Say
“Our shop floor used to be an embarrassment. Oil everywhere, impossible to clean. They coated all 4 bays in two days and now it looks better than most dealerships. Clients actually comment on it.”
“Used them for our new dealership service department. Flake epoxy with bay markings — exactly what we needed. Professional crew, hit the schedule, quality is excellent.”
“Three shops over the past four years, all Charlotte Epoxy Pro. The floors hold up to daily shop use and still look great. Best investment we've made in our facilities.”
Common Questions
Have a shop project? Call us — we'll schedule a site visit and give you an honest assessment of what the floor needs.
How much does auto shop epoxy flooring cost in Charlotte?
Auto repair shop epoxy flooring in Charlotte runs $3–$6 per square foot, including basic safety markings. The main variable is the degree of oil contamination in the slab — heavy contamination requires more grinding, which adds cost. A 4-bay shop (approximately 2,000 sq ft) typically runs $6,000–$12,000.
Can you coat a floor with years of oil contamination?
Yes — with the right prep. Oil-contaminated slabs require degreasing followed by diamond grinding to remove the oil-saturated concrete layer. We never apply epoxy over oil contamination — it's the number one cause of failure in shop floor installs. The depth of grinding depends on how deep the oil has penetrated, which we assess during the site visit.
How long does auto shop epoxy installation take?
Most auto repair shops (2,000–4,000 sq ft) are completed in 2–3 days. We schedule around your operating hours where possible — evening starts, weekend work, or a phased approach that keeps some bays in service while others are coated.
What about lift pads — can epoxy handle the load?
Yes. Our commercial epoxy systems are rated for the concentrated point loads of two-post and four-post lifts. We also coat around existing lift pads and can coat under floor-mounted lifts where access allows. For shops with in-ground lifts or pits, we treat those areas separately.
Do you do showroom floors as well as service areas?
Yes. We regularly coat both the service department and customer-facing showroom in a single project. Showrooms often get a higher-gloss decorative epoxy or polished concrete system that coordinates with the service area floor in the same project schedule.
Is epoxy safe for use around vehicles?
Once fully cured, epoxy is completely inert and safe for all automotive applications. During installation we manage ventilation per the system's VOC requirements. We schedule installations when the shop is closed and confirm the floor has fully cured before vehicles are returned to the bays.
